Staying flexible whilst on holiday – getting around without a car

Getting around without your own car is easy in this region. Nockmobil, public transport, mountain railways and the Millstätter See boat service connect towns and holiday attractions between the lake and the mountains. In winter, ski buses provide direct links to the valley stations, whilst regional travel cards offer affordable or free travel on many routes.

Getting around without a car: Nockmobil, station shuttle & public transport

Simple and well-coordinated transport options are available for journeys within the region. Nockmobil, the station shuttle, and buses and trains provide flexible travel options – from your arrival to day trips, hiking starting points and valley stations.

Nockmobil – a shared taxi service in the region

The Nockmobil ensures seamless transport links across the region and provides the perfect complement to buses, trains and the S-Bahn. This shared-ride taxi service is operated by local taxi companies and, with over 650 stops, connects the towns of Reichenau, Bad Kleinkirchheim, Feld am See, Radenthein, Millstatt am See, Seeboden am Millstätter See and Spittal an der Drau. This provides flexible, affordable connections to accommodation, tourist attractions, hiking starting points, lido beaches, mountain railways and shopping facilities.

When booking, you specify the pick-up and drop-off points, the departure time and the number of passengers; the best route is displayed immediately.

Individual and group rates are available, as well as special rates for trips to alpine pastures and journeys over 20 kilometres. For longer journeys (over 20 km), a charge of €2.40 per kilometre and vehicle applies.
For journeys on toll roads (Lammersdorfer Alm, Millstätter Alm, Tschiernock), the toll is charged additionally per person and direction of travel.
Dogs may be carried on board subject to prior registration; a muzzle is required; please note that additional costs may apply.

Payment is made in cash in the vehicle or electronically, subject to availability in the vehicle.

With the Millstätter See Inclusive Card and the Bad Kleinkirchheim Sonnenschein Card, all journeys on the Nockmobil within a maximum radius of 20 kilometres in each direction (4 fare zones) are reduced to €3.00 per person per journey.
The Millstätter See Inclusive Card also includes the tolls on the Lammersdorfer Almstraße, the Millstätter Almstraße and the Tschiernock Almstraße!

Children under 6 travel free when accompanied by an adult!

Bookings must be made at least 60 minutes before the scheduled collection time.

Carinthia Station Shuttle – the last mile

The Carinthia Station Shuttle is the best choice for the final leg of your journey between stations in and around the region (Spittal-Millstättersee, Feldkirchen in Carinthia & Villach) and your accommodation, or between the station and your destination. Numerous direct train connections ensure a speedy journey through Carinthia.

You can book the transfer until 8 pm the day before. Book the Carinthia Station Shuttle!

Tip: With the Millstätter See Inclusive Card (MIC), you can use the Carinthia Station Shuttle for €3.00 per person per journey.

Buses & Trains: Carinthian routes and suburban rail

Buses and trains connect the towns in the region at regular intervals.

Timetable information

Tip: With the Millstätter See Inclusive Card and the Bad Kleinkirchheim Sonnenschein Card, all bus journeys (route 180 from Spittal via Lake Millstatt to Bad Kleinkirchheim, route 350 from Radenthein to Feld am See) are reduced to €3.00 per person per journey.
If the standard price for the bus ticket is less than €3.00, only the standard price is payable.

The Bad Kleinkirchheim Sonnenschein Card and the Millstätter See Inclusive Card (MIC) are valid as ÖBB tickets for unlimited and free travel on local trains and S-Bahn lines throughout Carinthia and as far as East Tyrol.

Bicycle transport is not included. This offer applies only to S-Bahn and REX Regional Express services. It does not apply to RJ Railjet, EC Eurocity, IC Intercity, D Express and NJ Nightjet services. A valid card and photo ID are required! ÖBB’s terms and conditions of carriage apply.

Train & Bike: Cycling with train connections

A tour along the most beautiful cycle routes in Carinthia and the Alps-Adriatic region can be extended or shortened using ÖBB’s “Rail & Bike” service. Travel on the Radsprinter trains is free for holders of a valid Millstätter See Inclusive Card or a Bad Kleinkirchheim Sonnenschein Card. The carriage of bicycles and dogs is not included. Winter mobility

The region’s main winter sports centres are easily accessible by ski bus and ski shuttle – so there’s no need to hunt for a parking space at the valley stations. Ski bus services run directly to the ski resorts of Bad Kleinkirchheim, Turracher Höhe, Sportberg Goldeck, Heidi Alm Skipark Falkert and Hochrindl.
