Even back in the days of the summer resort, a boat trip to the unspoilt southern shore of Lake Millstatt was a popular pastime among lovers. Today, this unspoilt stretch is one of the most charming spots for a romantic lakeside picnic in Carinthia. Then as now, couples moor at the sheltered spots and spread out their picnic blankets. The old beech trees lean over the lake, forming a sheltering canopy.

There is a small jetty and a curved bench for picnicking by the water. From here, you can see the Habsburg villas in the distance, and the sounds of the forest provide atmospheric entertainment. The Seecafé KAP 4613 is the starting and finishing point of the experience. This is where you’ll collect your picnic basket – the perfect place to raise a glass to your TIME together at Lake Millstatt, either before or after your picnic.

The Zweispitz, a wooden rowing boat, has room for two people and a picnic basket! Even the journey across the lake makes for a special picnic experience.

The lakeside picnic can be booked from 12 May to 27 September 2026.
Available days are Tuesday to Sunday.
The picnic starts at 10.30 am or 2.00 pm.

The gourmet hamper for two contains:

1 × 1 litre bottle of Millstätter mountain spring water
2 × 0.3 litre returnable bottles of homemade iced tea
1 × savoury picnic antipasti platter for two (with prosciutto, cheese, fruit, vegetables and homemade dips)
“Biscuit bag”
2 slices of homemade cake

Prepared with love, using local ingredients. Vegetarian options available on request.

The distance between Seecafé KAP 4613 and the “Wassersport Strobl” boat hire on Seemühlgasse is about 500 metres on foot or a short walk across the lake.

You can either set off from Seecafé KAP 4613 – combining this with a leisurely stroll along the promenade to the boat hire – or directly from Wassersport Strobl on Seemühlgasse. The picnic basket will then be taken on board.

On your return, please hand in the boat and picnic basket at the relevant collection points.

The romantic boat trip with a picnic lasts around 3 hours.

The picnic basket is collected from Seecafé KAP 4613 and returned there after the Panorama Picnic.

Please note: The MBN Tourismusmanagement GmbH office is closed at weekends and on public holidays. Please therefore ensure that any cancellations are made in good time.

The picnic spot at Lake Millstatt is easily accessible even without a car.

By public transport or shuttle bus:
Millstatt is accessible by bus every half hour. There are also several Nockmobil stops in the immediate vicinity of the Seecafé KAP 4613. For further information, please visit www.nockmobil.at.

By (e-)bike:
The Seecafé KAP 4613 is situated right on the Millstätter See Cycle Route. This makes it the perfect spot to combine a lakeside picnic with a cycle or e-bike ride along the shore.
