Fish festival in Feld am See Char, lake trout and co: A week full of fish delights at Lake Brennsee

10.00 am: Opening of the 21st culinary fish festival on the church square

11 am to 1 pm: Morning pint concert with the Feld am See traditional band

10 am to 5 pm: Children's programme in the Kinderland

10 am to 6 pm: Carinthian arts and crafts market in Dorfstraße

from 3.00 pm: Live music with the ‘Kärntner Rebellen’
 

Supporting programme

The Trachtenkapelle Feld am See band plays to welcome the visitors. In between, children can try out the bouncy castle, mine a gemstone at the ‘Granatium’ stand or meet up at the craft and colouring stations in Kinderland. On the village street, it's worth stopping at the stalls of the artisans, who offer fish leather jewellery, wooden products, ceramics, soaps and leather goods.

Admission is free. 
In case of bad weather, the fish festival will take place on 19 July.

Sunday, 12 July: Opening and tasting

• 6 pm: Church service and wine baptism with Senior pastor Michael Guttner, Superintendent Andrea Mattioli and Diocesan Bishop Josef Marketz in the Seepark with wind instruments from the Feld am See traditional band, followed by a performance by the Gegental children's and youth folk dance group and a tasting of the fish wine "Sauvignon Blanc Feld am See" 2025 from the Walter Skoff/Gamlitz winery on the church square. Governor Dr. Peter Kaiser is the wine sponsor.
• 6 pm to midnight: Culinary delights on the church square: Feld am See Volunteer Fire Brigade. The culinary highlight is the "Yellow Soup from Kärntna Låxn" – a creation by show chef Marco Krainer from Feld am See – prepared by the Thurnerhof.

Thursday, 16 July: Fischers Fritz and fish & folklore

• 2 pm: Fishermen's meeting point at the fish farm: guided tour with master fisherman Andreas Hofer through the entire facility with tips and information about fishing. Participation is free of charge.

Friday, 17 July: Slow Fish

• 7.00 pm: Slow Fish & Wine Round Table at Landhotel Lindenhof – a 5-course culinary journey: enjoy regional and freshly caught fish prepared in unusual ways, accompanied by fine wines in the "Gourmetstube", the new "Vinum" and on the terrace.

Tip: Fish dishes in many variations are also served in all inns and restaurants in the village during the week.

The fish festival will take place on Saturday, 18 July 2026. From 12 to 17 July 2026, there will be a fish-themed week with culinary events.

The festival grounds are located on Kirchenplatz in the centre of Feld am See in Carinthia.

Admission to the Feld am See Fish Festival is free.

Regional specialities such as Carinthian Laxn, char, trout, Steckerlfisch (fish on a stick) and creative fish dishes are served.

Yes. At the fish festival, there is a children's area with games, craft stations and a bouncy castle.
