Millstatt am See shines in the most atmospheric colors from November 30, 2025 to January 6, 2026. Tahmina and the mighty lime tree in the courtyard of Millstatt Abbey tell fabulous stories and, one Advent walk further on, the winter waves carry Christmas wishes out onto the lake.

When you walk along the Millstätter Lichtweg, you feel that the path itself is the destination. Step by step, Christmas comes a little closer - accompanied by surprises, illuminating works of art and quiet moments. International artists such as OchoReSotto bathe the historic site in light and poetry, inspiring visitors to reflect, marvel and pause for thought.
And in between? There is TIME for a warm punch, a wish to the Christ Child and a short journey along your own lifelines.
OchoReSotto illuminates the Advent sky above Millstatt 2025 in a fascinating interplay of magenta, blue and gold - a continuation of the impressive “Compositions of Lines” installations that already delighted visitors to Millstatt in the summer.
Paths cross, separate and find each other again!
Lia Rädler, Stefan Sobotka-Grünewald and Volker Sernetz have been creating light and sound installations for over 20 years. Walkers on the Millstätter Lichtweg take TIME to follow the lifelines. The collegiate church, the striking façade of the monastery and the observation tower in Barbara Egger Park bear the unmistakable signature of the artists' collective.
The Millstätter Lichtweg opens small windows to the magic of Advent every day. From the first ray of sunshine until nightfall (from around 17:00), light installations, poetic soundscapes and creative stations accompany you through Millstatt. Here, the walk becomes a journey full of wishes, stories and encounters - at your own pace.
On the Millstätter Lichtweg, Advent becomes a journey into other TIMES: Together with the TIME traveler Tahmina, magical portals to past eras open up. Light, sound and stories interweave to create a special experience full of inspiration and wonder - between the lake, starry sky and ancient walls.
As the MS Porcia glides gently across Lake Millstätter See, the light, water and sky blur into a tranquil winter fairy tale. Apple punch warms you up in the comfortably heated saloon, Captain Franz talks about life on the lake while the snow-covered peaks pass by outside. A cruise full of magic, silence and moving views.
