There are only around 20 minutes between an espresso in town and your first turns in the snow - that's how close the sports mountain Goldeck ski area is. It is also easily accessible by ski bus from the towns around Lake Millstätter See.
Wide pistes, short waiting times and plenty of sunshine make the mountain an insider tip for families, connoisseurs and anyone who wants to combine alpine freedom with urban comfort.
In the morning, take the gondola up to almost 1,800 metres above sea level, where the children's corner on the Goldeck awaits - Carinthia's highest practice area. A magic carpet, two T-bar lifts and snow-sure conditions ensure effortless first turns. The terrain is also perfect for those returning to skiing after a long break. There are special, favourable ski pass rates for training sessions - so getting started skiing on the Goldeck is very relaxed.
The winter season on Sportberg Goldeck starts on 19 December 2025 at the latest and lasts until 22 March 2026 - depending on snow conditions. Current opening times and piste information can be found at sportberg-goldeck.at.
Yes! During the promotional period from 8 January 2026 until the end of the season, children up to the age of 14 (born 2011 and younger) ski for free if one parent buys a ski pass and the family stays overnight in a partner company.
There are several ski areas in the immediate vicinity: Bad Kleinkirchheim, the Turracher Höhe, the Falkert and the Hochrindl - all part of the Millstätter See ski carousel. Just one Carinthian ski pass opens up over 200 kilometres of pistes between lake and mountain.
Tip: The Millstätter See ski carousel connects the five ski areas in one region as well as 26 others throughout Carinthia - ideal for anyone who enjoys a variety of skiing.
The ski area is easily accessible by public transport. Spittal an der Drau railway station is just a few minutes away from the valley station, and a ski bus runs directly to the gondola lift from there and from the towns on Lake Millstatt.
