Where hiking begins
In the hiking villages of Millstatt, Seeboden & Döbriach, the hiking experience starts right in the village - with quality, hospitality and alpine diversity for authentic moments in nature.
Lake Millstätter See is one of the most beautiful hiking regions in Carinthia! All major long-distance hiking trails (Alpe Adria Trail, Nockberge Trail, Via Paradiso) lead to the shores of the deepest lake in Carinthia. Relaxed hikes by the water can be combined with panoramic hikes in the UNESCO Carinthian Nockberge Biosphere Reserve. If you pitch your hiking tent on Lake Millstätter See, several panoramic roads and five mountain railroads also bring you a good deal closer to the peaks. Plan your tours: digitally - to the tour portal or download the Millstätter See hiking map now!
The huts on the Millstätter Alm usually open from the beginning of May to the beginning of November (changes may occur depending on the weather). The best hiking season is from May to October, but the Millstätter Plateau and the lakeshore are often suitable for hiking as early as March and April. A special winter highlight is the Millstätter Lichtweg, which is open from the end of November to the beginning of January!
The Sonnwiesen circular trail, the Slow Trails or the My 1st Summit tour are ideal for families.

Lake Millstätter See can also be circumnavigated on the Millstätter See Cycle Path - preferably by bike, of course. The approximately 24 kilometers can be easily covered by bike in around 2.5 hours
Hiking on Lake Millstatt is more than just exercise - it is an invitation to take TIME. For the view. For stories. For yourself.
